Out of Sight, Out of Mind

Entrance of a grimy Milton Keynes underpass
  • Out of Sight, Out of Mind

Milton Keynes, where we live, has a terrible problem with homelessness. Pre COVID-19, almost all the underpasses in the centre had tents in them where people were sleeping rough. This song is about people’s incredible propensity to ignore, and compartmentalise things they don’t like. The amount of times I walked by someone sleeping rough, and completely ignored them, seeing them as more of an obstacle than a person. The associated guilt with doing that led me to write Out of Sight, Out of Mind.
